OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – (February 4, 2016) – Validity Screening Solutions, a premier provider of background screening and drug testing services, is pleased to announce that Scott Burroughs, Director – Compliance, has been awarded the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Advanced Certification by the National Association of Professional Background Screener’s (NAPBS).

Burroughs joins Emily Matlock, Director – Client Services and Chris Feld, Director – Strategic Initiatives, of Validity Screening Solutions, who have both earned the FCRA Advanced Certification – a mark of excellence held only by 77 professionals within the background screening industry nationwide.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is a complex piece of federal legislation enacted in 1970 which is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). FCRA guidelines mandate fairness, accuracy, and privacy in the collection and use of consumer information, including sensitive consumer credit information. These guidelines form the national standards for consumer reporting agencies’ use of public information and reports for employment screening purposes.

The FCRA Advanced Certification Program is intended for background screening professionals in leadership positions and those who set compliance policy and make compliance decisions for their organization. This course is offered at both of the NAPBS’s yearly conferences and includes a live seminar, followed by a written exam. It is also offered as an online option consisting of six training webinars and an exam. The content and exam focus on complex and hard-­hitting FCRA compliance issues.
