Down Syndrome Innovations, formerly Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City (DSG), was founded in 1984 by a group of parents who shared a vision to support families experiencing the birth of a child with Down syndrome. Like all loving parents, they wanted their kids to thrive and wanted support and community. They wanted their children to grow up happy, healthy, encouraged, and empowered.
Their organization was incorporated in 1986 and received its 501(c)(3) not-for-profit exempt status in 1987. They have spent nearly four decades developing a proven portfolio of comprehensive support services and programs that other Down syndrome organizations across the United States replicate. These programs create positive outcomes for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the professionals who serve them.
Today, they are recognized as one of the leading Down syndrome organizations in the world. Powered by their visionary team and generous community, they have dreamed big! Their organizational transformation has resulted in the expansion of their services (to all ages!) and their campus—with their state-of-the-art Lifelong Learning Campus. The DSG of yesterday has evolved into the Down Syndrome Innovations of tomorrow…
They have passionately strengthened their expertise as they have redefined what is possible for the people they serve. In 2021, their organization transformed with a rebranded identity to emphasize their expanding services and campus more clearly.
Their new brand mirrors this exciting chapter of their story. Their life-changing support and services will enable people with Down syndrome to live to their fullest potential. They are your trusted partner for every step of the journey. And this is just the beginning…
